#friskyfriday : Not Your Regular G&T

There is no better way to unwind on a Friday after a strenuous week at work, or a full day of Spring/Summer cleaning, than by sipping on a Gin & Tonic.

Actually, there is! For those of you that want something a little jazzier than the traditional version of a G&T, give our version a try! And if you don’t like the taste of tonic water, we have a variation that follows!

Sidenote: there are several types of gin, so if you’ve tried a G&T before and it wasn’t your cup of tea, next time you go out, ask your bartender to make you one with a different brand of gin.

We’re so used to drinking Bombay Sapphire Gin because it’s the most common one in bars, that or Beefeaters, but those have two very distinc tastes. I tried out Tanqueray at one point, inspired by Amy Winehouse’s lyrics “sniffed me out like I was Tanqueray” in You Know I’m No Good.

To my surprise, it was a lot smoother and had a much more pleasant taste, and my Girlfriend will agree!

You will need

  • 1 shot glass of gin, we prefer Tanqueray
  • Tonic Water
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 or 2 wedges of lime
  • 5 or 6 raspberries

In a tall glass (traditionally a rocks glass or a highball glass), add 2 or 3 ice cubes, and fill half way with tonic water.

Stir in your shot of gin, then squeeze in your lime (drop in in the glass after you squeezed it), and garnish with your berries.

Now, we have a variation for those that don’t like the taste of tonic water, try it out with gingerale!

Same ingredients, just swap out the tonic water for gingerale, and enjoy
